Grow with Semapa, the internal mobility platform of the Group

33 percent is the percentage of companies, globally, that have internal mobility programs, according to the Workplace Learning Report 2024. This report was developed by the LinkedIn Learning platform and involved over 2,500 people, including HR and Learning & Development professionals, as well as students of LinkedIn Learning courses.

The potential of internal mobility has been increasingly recognized by HR departments and company leaders. The concept can be defined as the movement that an employee makes within the company or group of companies where they work to change the direction of their career and/or to experience new professional growth opportunities. This movement can involve a change of area, function, or a transfer (temporary or part-time).

Grow with Semapa

Semapa Group’ internal mobility platform was developed in 2023, as part of the Future Proof Leadership Program. This training, created in partnership with the Nova School Business and Economics (Nova SBE), includes the Hackathon for the Future, a day dedicated to solving challenges and whose goal is to develop innovative, viable solutions that can be implemented in the short term. This was exactly what happened with the idea behind the Grow with Semapa platform.

After the necessary technological implementation, the mobility platform became operational in October 2023. How does it work? The opportunities that arise in the various companies of Semapa Group are posted there, allowing employees to apply for positions in any of them. In turn, the employee can also search by type of mobility (permanent or temporary), role, and location. In the case of temporary vacancies, this means that an employee can join a project of another company part-time, enriching their journey within the Group. The announced vacancies can be in various areas and include roles such as R&D scientist, analyst, maintenance coordinator, investment associate, among many others.

For employees, this is a privileged opportunity for their development and career progression, amplification, and diversification of experiences, as well as a greater sense of purpose and professional fulfillment within Semapa Group.

Other benefits of internal mobility

For companies, internal mobility is one of the best ways to transfer knowledge and create a dynamic and agile workforce. It also allows organizations to promote diversity and inclusion at all levels of the organization.

Semapa Group believes that when an employee moves from one company to another, there is a transfer of knowledge that will benefit the new projects and teams and, ultimately, the business. In fact, according to the Workplace Learning Report 2024, companies that encourage employees to explore and diversify their roles have higher talent retention rates, a more varied skill set, and employees with deeper and broader knowledge.

Until June 2024, more than 70 opportunities were announced on the Grow with Semapa platform in the various companies of the Group, resulting in several internal transitions and role changes. This was, for example, the case of an employee who moved from financial controller at Secil to associate at Semapa Next. For Semapa, this is another demonstration that investing in people is the right step in the growth of employees and, consequently, the Group.
