Have you heard about Semapa Talent Lab?

Perhaps you’ve noticed that in recent years, the word “talent” has started to be written with a capital initial: Talent. It’s not surprising that this happens in the volatile scenario that companies face, people are the greatest source of advantage.

Talent is one of the essential strategic pillars of the Semapa Group, which dedicates much time to creating projects and initiatives that stimulate and develop it, also fostering a Group culture. One of these examples is the Semapa Talent Lab. Let’s explain everything to you.

What is Semapa Talent Lab?

This practical training program has an intense experiential component, applied through bootcamps and challenges, combining various aspects: leadership, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

The participants of the program’s first edition in 2023 were 15 young talents up to 33 years old – with distinct skills and functions – from various companies of the Semapa Group.

The application model involved three steps: nomination by the Executive Committee of each subsidiary; application/pitch of each nominee; selection by Semapa’s Talent team.

Individual characteristics play a prominent role, with curiosity, creativity, a taste for collaborative work, and an entrepreneurial spirit being valued.

The composition of the teams is also designed to gather diversity in professional experience, higher education, age, and gender.

Objectives of Semapa Talent Lab

The objective of this program is for the three teams to find, over six months of training, creative and innovative solutions for three group challenges. The solutions found must be supported by sustainable business models with economic viability.

In the first edition of Semapa Talent Lab, the proposed challenges focused on three areas: circularity, digital transformation, and generation of synergies with impact. To support the participants, a support ecosystem was created, composed of national and international mentors, both internal and external to the Group. Additionally, each team had a sponsor who contributed with their strategic vision regarding the central theme under development and the business model under construction.

Demo Day: a day to showcase innovative solutions

The culmination of this program happens on “Demo Day”, through the presentation of solutions developed throughout the program by the teams. On this day, the various teams had the opportunity to share the projects they developed over six months, and this sharing demonstrated their evolution in terms of leadership, innovation, and entrepreneurship skills because of all the learning.

A very positive experience

The first edition of the Talent Lab had a very positive evaluation from the participants. The development of entrepreneurship skills and a collaborative and co-creation spirit that will be extremely valuable in their professional journey stood out.
The success of this experimental initiative in 2023 foresees the realization of a second edition of Semapa Talent Lab, allowing more young talents to dedicate themselves to new challenges that stimulate the involvement and practical application of their Talent.
