Materializing the values and purpose of the Group, Semapa – Pedro Queiroz Pereira Foundation is now born. The Foundation continues the entrepreneurial and philanthropic spirit that characterized Pedro Queiroz Pereira, founder, and former Chairman of the Board of Directors of Semapa.
The Foundation, which has an initial endowment of 10 million euros, is a pillar of the Group’s corporate responsibility strategy and has two well-defined missions: Education and Social Protection. Margarida Rebocho, Executive Director who will lead the new institution, recognizes that “Education is undoubtedly the main Social Elevator and an essential dimension in combating inequalities, making it imperative to promote, empower, and value this ecosystem to elevate the quality of education in Portugal. This will be the Foundation’s main mission.”
The area of Social Protection is the other axis that the Foundation intends to work on, which has already been accompanied by Semapa Group. Within the Foundation’s scope, it will encompass initiatives that may be developed in conjunction with entities that the Group already supports. Such is the case of Nossa Senhora do Bom Sucesso Foundation, dedicated to promoting maternal and child health, and Salvador Association, which operates in the field of motor disability.
In the initial years, the work will essentially be developed through partnerships with other entities, especially from the social sector, focusing also on the priorities elected by the Foundation and with which programs can be developed to achieve the social impact objective the Foundation aspires to have.

With the public deed celebrated, the legal procedures will now be followed to request recognition from the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, a necessary process for Pedro Queiroz Pereira Foundation to begin operating fully and fulfilling its mission.
