Semana Making it Better Semapa: what happened in 2025

Over eight thousand employees. Ten geographies. 27,523 kilometres covered in five days. “A place where I can BE” was the theme of the third edition of the Semapa Group’s Semana Making it Better. Another year in which the “Making it Better” purpose was reinforced and brought employees together in a celebration of the talent and collaborative spirit that define the Group.

Challenge accepted

The “Semapa Around the World” campaign, developed through a dedicated app, was the major challenge put to employees to symbolically connect the geographies where Semapa operates. Every step, pedal stroke or flight of stairs brought them closer to the established goal: 25,000 km. But that wasn’t all. This goal also had a solidarity dimension: a €32,000 donation that the Group’s companies would make to an institution if the target was reached. In this way, the collective movement of employees transformed kilometres covered into euros to support children through artistic and musical education.

Conservatório Artallis was the beneficiary of this solidarity campaign – a social project with the mission of “Inspiring, engaging and educating for a better world through art.” Embedded in an underprivileged community, it provides music education to more than 15,000 children, creating transformative alternatives and opportunities for the future through culture.

Opening doors to innovation and talent

The week kicked off with the Open Day, an initiative that allowed some employees to take a guided tour of other Group facilities beyond their own. This initiative embodied the Group’s commitment to being “A place where I can BE recognised as talent beyond the boundaries of my own company.”

Innovation also took centre stage when Semapa’s Executive Board visited several subsidiaries, highlighting some of the Group’s pioneering projects that have already become standard practice: Clean Cement Line, from Secil-Outão; From Fossil to Forest, from Navigator (Cacia and Raiz); Rapid Prototyping from Triangle’s; Raw Heparin from ETSA. These visits reinforced the theme “A place where I can BE an innovator, every day.”

Collaboration in the spotlight

“A place where I can BE PART of a team that challenges each other to grow and develop” was brought to life through a collaborative game that successfully tested the strategy, creativity and cooperation of the 181 teams that took part using a dedicated app. Among other tasks, teams were tested on their knowledge of key milestones and trivia about the Semapa Group.

The final day of the Making it Better week closed with a live session from Semapa’s CEO, who announced the winners of the collaborative game, followed by a solidarity walk. Thanks to everyone’s commitment, and in just five days, the goal of 25,000 kilometres was surpassed: 27,600 kilometres, converted into a €32,000 donation to Conservatório Artallis.

This edition of the Semana Making it Better proved, once again, that there is a shared purpose lived out daily through the talent, energy and commitment of all those who make the Semapa Group “A great place to be.” A place where every employee can find endless opportunities and be part of a movement of constant transformation.
